An example of the neoclassic robe en chemise, a light gown for daytime wear in white cotton muslin. Typical of Empire style clothing, it is cut below the bust and features a square neckline and short puff sleeves; the long skirt is slightly frilled at the waist. Rear fastening with coulisse ribbons level with the bust and the sleeves.

The bodice, sleeves, the central panel at the front and the hem are trimmed with rows of very small stitched pleats alternated with lace inserts; the neckline and hem are also trimmed with lace.
