An elegant hat comprising a small cap in gray silk velvet embellished at the front with a large fan in the period style of the 1920s, with struts in mother-of-pearl and natural white marabu feathers with gray tips.
Cartoni was a Rome-based hat maker active in the 50s and 60s, and evening hats with fan details became a well-known feature of his work and his signature design. The style was created by fusing the designer’s interest in antiques into his hat-making.
