Long olive green silk tunic with extremely fine soleil pleating (so called because the pleats fan out like rays from a central hub) and a broad Sabrina neckline. The tunic is caught up at the shoulders by a matching cord passing though tiny Murano glass buttons sewn down the entire length of the tubular tunic’s side seams.
The dress has a silk ribbon belt. This exemplar is a variant on the famous “Delphos tunic” that Mariano Fortuny designed in 1907, taking his inspiration – as the name suggests – from a celebrated Greek statue known as the Charioteer of Delphi.
Donated by Ente Gospark Italia S.r.l., 2010.
