17th March at the museum: free admission to Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens!
Recollecting the day of the Unification of Italy in 1861
In 1861 Italy was declared a united nation-state. After Turin, Florence thus became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy in 1865 until 1871. At that time Pitti Palace was chosen as the Royal abode by King Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy.
Next Sunday, March 17, we thus commemorate Italian Unification by offering all visitors free admission to Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens.
