Follonica is a seaside town situated at the heart of the bay of the same name that stretches from Piombino to Punta Ala. The town’s unique position has turned it into a major tourist resort, but it was founded back in the 16th century when Ilva rose to become one of the leading centres of Tuscany’s iron and steel industry.
