31st January is the "Doni Day"!

Discounts for couples, live shows and focuses in the Gallery

Second edition of the special day dedicated to love at the Uffizi! With a wide range of initiatives!

On January 31, 1504 Agnolo Doni (1474-1539) and Maddalena Strozzi (1489-1540) got married in Florence. The Uffizi celebrate this famous couple of patrons of arts, portrayed by Raphael, who also commissioned the renowned Holy Family (“Doni Tondo”) from Michelangelo. On Friday 31st January 2020 every couple has thus the opportunity to enter with a single ticket. The opening hours are exceptionally extended until 9pm (…what about a romantic cocktail on the terrace?) and the day is full of events: free guided tours, free focuses about artworks, live shows of music and dance.

On Twitter the Uffizi Galleries launch a social campaign dedicated to Love too: on 31 January all the visitors are in fact invited to kiss each other in front of an artwork of the Uffizi and then share their pics with @UffiziGalleries with #DoniDay hashtag. Fill our dashboard with "art kisses"!

In the afternoon get ready for hip-hop and urban dance in dialogue with the intense reflection on Love by Raphael. Mystes Crew performs “Sketches of Love”, a tribute to Raphael in the 500th anniversary of his death, in Room 41 (at 4pm, 5pm, 5.30pm). The show is free and without reservation.

From 7pm on, talented Cecilia Lasagno performs her own Cupid’s Catalogue, a short handbook on love for harp and voice, an interplay with Raphael’s representations of love and further on, a journey through the different shades of such a universal feeling, which ends with a delicate tribute to a painful and secret love like Vita Sackville-West’s one for Virginia Woolf, and much more…

The show is free and without reservation.
