For Images and Colours. The story of Santa Umiltà da Faenza in the Uffizi's medieval masterpiece
From 31 October 2023 to 26 May 2024, the Pinacoteca Comunale will exhibit the polyptych by Pietro Lorenzetti with stories of the patron saint of the city of Romagna, on loan from the Uffizi.
From Florence to Faenza: a masterpiece of the Uffizi Galleries, the great Polyptych with the stories of Saint Humility by the Gothic painter Pietro Lorenzetti (Siena 1280-1348) - just re-emerged in all its splendour after a complex restoration that lasted over four years, is on display from tomorrow in the city of which Umiltà is the patron saint.
The exhibition, entitled 'Per Immagini e Colori. The story of Santa Umiltà da Faenza in the Uffizi's medieval masterpiece', is hosted in the Sala del Medioevo e del Rinascimento of the Pinacoteca Comunale; it is in this context that the monumental work of art returns visible to the public for the first time following the complex restoration work to which it was subjected by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and Studio Scarpelli of Florence.
