The new Director of the Uffizi Galleries, Simone Verde, takes office

The Uffizi Galleries welcome the new Director, Simone Verde.

The Director stated that 'in these first days the first project checks will be carried out with the staff. The vision that will inspire me is that of a consolidation of the important results achieved by my predecessor, Eike Schmidt, and a powerful investment in services, museographic and museological quality, supported by a punctual scientific research activity'.

Roman, 48 years old, museologist and art historian, from 2014 to 2016 Simone Verde was head of scientific research at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, and from 2016 to 2023 he directed the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta, whose total restoration and refurbishment he completed.
