Poppi
A town and castle overlooking the Casentino
The presence of the Counts Guidi has marked the face of Poppi, their castle with its tall tower lording it over the valley of the Casentino. Historical events and famous figures of the past have passed through these lands immersed in the silence of ancient forests, where farming follows the rolling silhouette of hill and dale. Those figures include Dante, who visited the area on more than one occasion and sought refuge here during his time in exile.
