Veneziani | MILANO | MADE IN ITALY
The deep red satin cocktail dress with a flower pattern comes with a stole of the same fabric lined in single-colour silk satin. The full, flared skirt is slightly gathered at the waist and is made of a number of irregular, superimposed panels. This dress was shown as part of the collection at Palazzo Pitti’s Sala Bianca in 1952, on which occasion Jole Veneziani attracted an enormous amount of praise, her creations drawing the attention of both “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar”. Only a year earlier, in 1951, Veneziani had con- quered the American market with her white raincoat and match- ing rainproof hat, a set that achieved absolutely record sales.
Donated by the Associazione TornabuoniLineapiù, 1988
