Jacket and skirt two-piece suit
Paco Rabanne (Pasaia, Paesi Baschi 1934 - Ploudalmézeau, Francia 2023)
A two-piece suit comprising a jacket with a broad hood and an ostrich leather skirt.
Born in the Basque region, Paco Rabanne moved to France with his mother, who was the Balenciaga atelier’s head seamstress at the time.n He drew close to the world of fashion, building up experience with Charles Jourdan (1883-1976), Hubert de Givenchy (1927- 2018), Pierre Cardin (1922-2020) and André Courrèges (1923-2016). He made his own debut in 1966 with his Twelve Importable Dresses in Contemporary Materials collection consisting of irreverent dresses revisiting medieval armour in a futuristic vein. He returned to the armour theme, albeit in a more sartorial key, with his autumn winter 1991-92 collection, in which this dress was shown.
