Evening dress 1960 MMC, inv. TA 5415 A long, straight dress in dark lilac silk velvet with a low- cut, fitted bodice embellished with feathers in lilac tending towards fuchsia. A large velvet bow adorns the back of the dress at hip height. Nina Ricci founded the Maison Nina Ricci with her son Robert (1905-88) in Paris in 1932. Her garments stood out from the very beginning for their controlled elegance and their impeccable cut. In the early ‘50s Nina Ricci, by then almost seventy, gradually abandoned her role as designer, leaving it initially to the Belgian stylist Jules-François Crahay (1919-88) and then to Gérard Pipart (1933-2013).
